North West Premier Thandi Modise has called for no bail to be granted to a teacher accused of raping a learner near Zeerust.

It is alleged that the 44-year-old teacher asked the 13-year-old learner to remain behind after school; he then proceeded and took the learner to the school toilet where he allegedly raped her.

The teacher is appearing in court today for his bail application.

Premier Modise Spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele said though the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the allegations levelled against him are not only serious but despicable as they suggest that he might have betrayed the loco parents trust.

Kgwele added that Premier Modise reiterated her call for real men to support the moral regeneration by taking a stand against adolescent pregnancy and the scourge of rape.
