The City of Cape Town has spent R3
million on relief provision to residents affected by floods.
About 18 000 people were affected by
the heavy floods over the weekend across the metro.
Mayor of Cape Town Patricia de Lille said
the city is currently assessing the extent of the damages on municipal
infrastructure to establish the financial impact of the damages on the City’s
facilities.
Spokesperson for the Mayor Solly Malatsi said
the city’s disaster risk management team has gone beyond the call of duty working
around the clock to assist all affected residents.
“The mayor has sent her gratitude to all
community organisations, residents and business people who went out of their way
to offer their assistance to those residents who have been affected” Malatsi
added.
