The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union has condemned the rape of a 13-year old girl who was allegedly attacked by her principal in 2012.

SADTU said sexual assault imposed on students deserves serious urgent attention and action.

It has been reported that the girl fell pregnant after she was raped.

Sadtu Spokesperson Nomusi Cembi said they are not saying the teacher is guilty, since the case is still in court but they are saying they are hardly three days left before the country engages on the campaign of no violence against women, and children.

“We would like to see the harshest sentences imposed on those who commit such crimes on our vulnerable children,” Cembi added
