Safety of Cyclists and Blue Light Regulation gazetted in W Cape

Today the Safety of Cyclists and Blue Lights Regulation have been published in the Provincial Gazette.

This is after a period of public comment and lengthy consideration by the Department of Transport and Public Works.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said the Safety of Cyclists regulations are aimed at ensuring the safety of cyclists and to create an environment in which non-motorised modes of transport are encouraged and made safer.

Dube said another regulation that was promulgated today was the restrictions of the use of lamps emitting a blue light these pertain to the uses of blue light for office barriers, it is now no longer appropriate for office barriers to make use of blue light unless they do so in matters that constitutes a case of emergency .

 Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube added that a violation of this regulation can lead to hefty fines and in some instances imprisonment of no longer than a year
