It is believed that the truck veered off the road into the centre median and then came back onto the northbound carriageway before overturning.
Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said when paramedics arrived they found that the truck had overturned and blocking the entire highway.
Botha said the two occupants died before paramedics arrived on the scene due to the very serious and extensive injuries that they had sustained.
