The Democratic Alliance has welcomed Rashied Staggie’s parole being revoked today by the Department of Correctional Services.

DA MP of Correctional Services James Selfe said the re-arrest will hopefully illustrate a commitment by the department to enforce parole conditions without fear or favour.

“I think this sends out a clear message about parole violation. One of the conditions on Staggie’s parole was that he should not associate at all with any convicted gangsters. He has now done so" Selfe added.

Selfe said the department of correctional services has done entirely the correct thing by re-arresting this individual to show that no one however well connected they are but they are not above the law and above parole conditions.
