The Department of Home Affairs Deputy minister Fatima Chohan said by the end of the year they hope to have 26 offices coming in line for the roll-out of the Smart ID card.

By the end of 2014 more than half of the offices infrastructure should be complete.

Chohen said at the moment there are already 407 offices nationwide ready to go on line.

Chohen also said the department is looking at ensuring that by the end of 2014 about 200 offices are operating as well.
