Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa said they will continue to increase police visibility especially during the festive season.

Mthethwa said the Duty Calls Festive Season Campaign which kicked off in October this year has already yielded successes including two drug busts worth over R150 million in Guateng and KwaZulu-Natal in just two weeks.

Ministerial Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said it is important that such successes are not only reflective of the police alone but it is through the many partnerships.

“We are encouraged but also we urge South Africans to be careful and cautious during this period but assure them of our commitment as the police to ensure that any perpetrators of crime will be apprehended and will be punished accordingly” Mnisi added.
