Fire between Camps Bay and Hout Bay Mountain under control

The Western Cape Fire Services this afternoon responded to a vegetation fire between Camps Bay and Hout Bay.

The team had difficulty controlling the fire due to the strong winds.  On Monday the provincial government launched its fire season which begins on the 1st of December to the end of April.

In 2010 fire response teams managed to stop 75% fires in the first hour.

Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Theo Layne said they had three helicopters and two fire engines as well as Table Mountain Parks personnel on the scene.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, the fire is under control at the moment and we will be doing patrol to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished,” Layne added.
