Four teenagers aged between 16 to 20-years-old were on Friday sentenced in the Grahamstown High Court for murder, rape and robbery.

Police found a body which was burnt beyond recognition at a house in Alexandria.

It is believed the 18-year-old was visiting her grandmother in Port Elizabeth when she was abducted by the four suspects.

Captain Mali Govender said shortly after the incident the four suspects were arrested at a house nearby, still wearing their blood stained clothes.

Govender said the victim had been abducted from the street, while she was on her way home. She was taken to a vacant house where she was gang raped, hit with a hammer over her head and thereafter set alight

" The police also found a hammer and the cellular phone of the victim in the possession of the suspects,” Govender added.
