Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato joined forces with the provincial traffic officials in launching the 2013 Safely Home Road Safety Plan for the festive season on Thursday.

Plato has encouraged motorists to be vigilant at all times when they are on the roads.

Ministerial Spokesperson Greg Wagner said if the motorists have no respects for the rules of the road he chooses not to be benefit from many initiatives that they put in place.

“He puts himself and others in harm’s way,” Wagner added.

Meanwhile Plato said driver behaviour is vital to the success of the Western Cape’s campaign of encouraging motorists to buckle up and obey the rules of the road.

Ministerial Spokesperson Greg Wagner said Minister Plato said that if there is one message that he could give to motorists in the Western Cape this year it is his request for them to work with the government to do their part too.

“The Western Cape Government and the provincial traffic services need their help to make our roads safer as we cannot do on our own,” Wagner added.
