The National
Education Health and Allied Workers Union has welcomed the terms of reference
for the inquiry into the private health industry, which has been gazetted
today.
Nehawu has called
for the terms of reference to be made broader to allow for a shake-up not only
of the private industry but also that of the pharmaceutical industry.
Union's Spokesperson
Sizwe Pamla said we feel that the minister is correct in pointing out the
previous attempt to establish the risk equalisation fund and the prescribed
minimum benefits have failed.
“We are aware that
the Treasury is continuing with machinations of undermining the NHI . The ANC was very clear in the
53rd Congress in Mangaung that it is committed to a single public
funded and publicly administered fund.
