Nelson Mandela to be laid to rest on the 15th December

President Jacob Zuma has announced that the late Former President Nelson Mandela will be laid to rest on the 15th of December 2013 in his home village of Qunu in a state funeral.

Sunday the 8th of December 2013 has been declared National Day of Prayer and Reflection. President Zuma has called on the country to make such that we all work together to give Madiba a fitting funeral.

The official Memorial Service for Nelson Mandela will be held on the 10th of December 2013 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. President Zuma said from the 11-13 December 2013 Nelson Mandela’s body will lie in state at the Union Building.

Zuma has also thanked South Africans for the support and respect that they have given the Madiba family since his illness.  Zuma said the outpouring of love nationally and abroad demonstrates the kind of leader Mandela was.

South Africans have been called to spend the next ten days mourning and also celebrating Mandela’s life which he lived so well.

Nelson Mandela died on the 05 December 2013 in his home at around 8:50pm.
