A woman arrested for cultivating dagga

A 45-year-old woman was on Sunday arrested for cultivating dagga in the Bergville area and appeared in court on Monday on charges of cultivating dagga.  

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Mmamonnye Ngobeni said this dagga bust is another success in the police’s endeavors of fighting drug use and illicit drug trade. 

KwaZulu-Natal Police Spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said the police were patrolling in the area of Bergville in the Northern KwaZulu Natal when they saw a plantation in the nearby homestead.

Zwane added they went inside the homestead and discovered the dagga plantation to a street value of more than R500 000.

He also said she was released on warning and come back on the 24th February.
