The African Christian Democratic
Party has called on Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini to make sure
that all affected Non-Profit Organisations meet the necessary legislative
requirements.
ACDP MP Cheryllyn Dudley said a situation like
last year cannot happen, whereby about 36 000 non-profit organisations
discovered that their NPO registration status with the department had changed
to de-registered or non-complaint.
“This could be disastrous
for the country because the absence of NPO could mean increased service delivery
challenges for us all in the future, particularly the department.
The grace periods needs to be extended for
those who need time to come in line with the necessary legislative requirements.”
Dudley added.
