Plato said in a statement that it is up to the police to ensure that sufficient evidence which can result in a successful conviction and that the suspect pays for his crimes by being put behind bars away from our communities.

Ministerial Spokesperson Greg Wagner said the minister would like to applaud the members of the Delft South community who apprehended the man and handed him over to SAPS for arrest.

Wagner said this situation could have easily turned into one of vigilante violence.  MEC Plato applauded those members of the community who kept calm in a volatile situation and ensured that justice can take its course.
