Western Cape MEC of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Alan Winde said the news that Cape Town has been ranked as the top holiday destination in the world by The Guardian and the New York Times is good news for the economy.

Winde said the recognition is also great news in the quest for more job creation in the region.

"This is very good news for us and good news for jobs. I think listening to and seeing what they were rating it on. It shows that Robben Island is a great place to visit. It talks about our City and what it has to offer.

It also says this City is a great place to launch your holiday, launch your visit, to go to the Winelands, and the Gardens" Winde added.
