The Democratic Alliance has called for fishing rights of previous holders of permits to be restored.

This as the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is experiencing problems with its Fishing Rights Allocation process which has left thousands of previous rights holders unemployed.

DA Deputy MP of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Pieter van Dalen said they want the department to allocate the R200 reserves permit to the members that were unsuccessful until this process has been resolved.

We want them to use those reserve quotas,” van Dalen added.
