Defence Minister called to account on the development of spy satellite

The African Christian Democratic Party is calling on the Minister of Defence Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to account for spending and clarify situation regarding alleged development and existence of secret spy satellite costing more than R1 billion. 

This is in regards with a contract the department entered with a Russian Company for the development of a Kondor-E reconnaissance satellite in 2006. 

ACDP MP Cheryllyn Dudley said so far there are more questions that answers regarding this satellite and its development.

Duddley added that it has been seen that scrutinizing the budget of 2006/2007 and 2013/2014 does show the intelligence carries R2.8 billion of which some it could have gone to development of strategic information collection capability.
