The Freedom of Expression Institute has condemned in the strongest possible sense acts of police brutality in protest actions.

This follows the killings of three people in Mothutlung in the North West during protest over water shortage.

FXI said people need to exercise the right to freedom of assembly, demonstration, picket and petition within the parameter of the law.

FXI Executive Director Phenyo Dean Butale said they would like to call for caution amongst protesters to remind them that the constitution runs the right to free expression which says you have a right to protest.

Butale added that it also requires that the protest should be done in a peaceful and non-violence manner.
