The Western Cape Department of Education has confirmed that owners and trustees of the Simon Estes Music School have written to the WCED to close the school down.

The school has cited poor administration and lack of funding for the closure.

Departmental Spokesperson Paddy Attwell said the department is now dealing with administrative processes necessary for this closure.

Attwell added that the main concern of the WCED is where to place the learners.  The department will do everything it can to place the learners in alternative schools as soon as possible.
