The African Christian Democratic Party has welcomed amendments made to the proposed Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Bill.

ACDP MP Cheryllyn Dudley said the bill is an attempt to empower women and to promote gender equality.

Dudley said the ACDP is still concerned with the broad power given to the Minister in this bill, where she can interfere in the phase of business prior to amendments.

She further said they are encouraged because that section on political party will be look at in terms of whether it can be challenged in the constitutional court.
