Benoni bakkie driver in serious condition

A 60-year-old man this morning was left serioulsy injured this is after his bakkie colldied with another bakkies in Johannesburg East, Benoni. 

ER24 paramedics found the man trapped in his bakkie along with his female passenger. 

ER24 Spokesperson Luyanda Majija said The man was freed from the wreckage in a 30 minute long operation and was discovered to have suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital.

"It took rescue workers an hour to free the woman who was later airlifted to hospital by a medical helicopter.

This bakkie was carrying two men at the back who were sent flying in the collision. They sustained minor injuries. The drivers of the SUV and second bakkie were left uninjured," Majija added.

Local authorities are investigating the exact cause of the collision.
