The Western Cape Department of Education said it has noted the judgement made by the High Court rescinding the court interdict made on Friday.

Last week the Manenberg Teachers Steering Committee secured an interim court order for increased police visibility at fire schools in the area. This follows recent gang activity in the area.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said they will continue to monitor the situation and any decision to close a school will be made in the best interest of the learners.

Casey said the rescind means that all organisations involved will need to monitor and the department will continue to support any initiative aimed at safety in schools.
