ER24 paramedics this morning attended to seventy people who were stranded after they took refuge on a hill as water levels from the Magol River increased through the night.

Over the last week about seven people have drowned due to heavy rains around the country.

ER24 Spokesperson Luyanda Majija said the Joint Operation Centre was first activated enabling workers to determine the level of rescue operation required for the people stranded.

Majija said the rescued people who were uninjured were all transported to hospital for observations.
