Cape Town police last night arrested 46 people for public violence.  This is after they stoned and burnt a Golden Arrow bus in Montague Gardens.

It is alleged that the 46 suspects are angry at the City of Cape Town for making them demolish their structures last week.

The driver and eight people inside were not harmed after they had to flee to safety.  The City of Cape Town has condemned the action by the residents.

Captain FC van Wyk said the arrested include 26 females and 20 males who are between the ages of 25 and 45-years-old.  The 46 suspects are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate Court on Monday on charges of public violence.
