An accident in Pietermaritzburg leaves one person dead

A man died this morning in an accident on R56 near Richmond in Pietermaritzburg. 

Paramedics said when they arrived on scene they had to gain entrance to the vehicle through the sunroof and found that the man had already died due to the serve head injuries he had sustained. 

ER24 Spokesperson Luyanda Majija said it is believed that the vehicle lost control, veered off the road and rolled down embankment.

Majija added that the jaws of life had to be used to remove the body from the vehicle.
