Lusanda Bill
19 March 2014

The Food and Allied Workers Union said it strongly and fully supports the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa’s strike against youth unemployment.

Numsa is calling for the Employment Tax Incentive Act to be scrapped.

Fawu General Secretary Katishi Masemola we believe that more secured jobs of older workers are threatened by the introduction of this youth wage subsidy.

“And because we were not applicants in the section 77 application by Numsa we may not be able to be actively on strike but members who are available can join the strike” Masemola added.
