The City of Cape Town’s Gang Task Force working in the Beacon Valley conducted several roadblocks and searches in suspected drug dens in the area.

This as gang violence in Mitchell’s Plain has escalated in the past few weeks.  Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said police confiscated two firearms several people were arrested for violent crimes and murder and drugs were also confiscated during the raid.

Smith said they hope that these disrupt policing action and executions of warrants will lead to stabilisation of the gang situation in Beacon Valley so that residents can resume a normal and peaceful life.

“It is important that Saps proceeds with investigations against guilty parties because only the police have the investigative authority to bring those guilty to book” Smith added.
