Western Cape Police are searching for a man who is wanted in connection with a rape case that took place in Stellenbosch.

Police Spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said a 26-year-old woman alleged that while she was sleeping a man entered her house and tried to undress her.

An altercation then ensued and the man fled the scene on foot.  Police still do not know how the man gained entry to the house as the victim claimed the door was locked.

Van Wyk said the suspect is described as an African male aged 35-years-old and is about 1.75meters tall and slender built. The suspect was last seen in Bassi Street, Kayamandi.

"Anyone with information is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer Warrant Officer Theo Coetzee on 082 469 1479 or 021 809 9168” Van Wyk added.
