A man was killed late Monday afternoon after he was knocked off his bicycle on the R59 in Sasolburg.

It is believed that a double-cab bakkie hit the man after he was attempting to cross the road with his biycle.  Paramedics found the man lying on the road as he died on the scene.

ER24 Spokepserson Luyanda Majija said the man sustained suspected severe fractures throughout his body including his neck.  The driver of the vehicle was unarmed during the accident.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
