The Congress of the People has rejected to participate in an ad-hoc committee on Nkandla.

Speaker of Parliament Max Sisulu set-up the committee to get answer of the Nkandla report.

Cope National Spokesperson Johan Abrie said participation in the committee would be assisting President Zuma in avoiding his responsibility to uphold the Constitution.

Abrie added that all that remains outstanding now is for President Zuma to set an example by implementing the public protector’s remedial action

“This particular ad-hoc committee will be another layer of protection vote in by the ANC to prevent and assists President Zuma from taking responsibility of his actions. COPE believes that there is adequate information and adequate confirmation and facts that contain in the public protector’s report which justify that president Zuma should repay the money that was spent on his private home.” Abrie added.
