Fifteen people injured after a taxi caught alight

An accident late on Wednesday left fifteen people injured this is after a taxi they were in caught alight on Witkoppen Road in Johannesburg.

ER24 Spokesperson Luyanda Majija said ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene the fire department had already extuinguished the fire and the fourteen commuters from the taxi had managed to climb out of it.

Majija said the patients from the taxi were treated from minor to moderate injuries on scene and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

“The taxi apparently caught fire after it collided with a light motor vehicle on the road” Majija added.
