Four people died in shack fires in the Cape over the weekend

According to the Western Cape Disaster Risk Management four people died this past long weekend in shack fires across the Cape. 

The fires occurred in Mfuleni, Nyanga and Mitchell’s Plain.  Authorities are investigating the cause of the fires.

Disaster Risk Management Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons Johannes said about 30 people were left homeless after these shack fires.

He said a man died in Nyanga and in Mfuleni a man with his son and a daughter died.

Wilfred Solomons further said the City has offered some material to the victims to rebuild their structures and the cause of the fires is not known and the authorities are investigating.
