Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle said recent claims by the South African Police Service of toll delays at Champan’s Peak drive are not true.

This follows a family who were robbed over the weekend at Chapman’s Peak and police said while they tried to respond to the crime they were allegedly turned away.

MEC Carlisle said it is unacceptable that citizens and visitors still do not have the assurance from SAPS that they will respond in a reasonable time when incidents occur.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said the department will follow up on the on this and ensure the citizens and visitor are protected.
