24 suspects have been arrested following attacks and looting of shops owned by foreign nationals in Gilead, Rebone Township in Limpopo.

Police Spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said no injuries were reported and police have heightened visibility to quell any further attempts to destabilize the area.

Mulaudzi said the situation now is fine although it’s still tense we really want to condemn this unruly behaviour to say that Limpopo is a melting point of African people or anybody who wants to come and stay here.

Mulaudzi said any attempt to derail the process of unity within Limpopo will be dealt with the full might of the law. It is upon ourselves as the police to make sure that there is stability in that area and that we have done.

“We just want to reiterate that such kinds of illegal activities will not be tolerated in this province Mulaudzi added.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon on charges of public violence and business robbery.
