A Law Enforcement officer was hit by a light motor vehicle on Kingsway road in Springs this morning.

Meiring added that Paramedics were later told that the vehicle in question had apparently driven through the protest crowd and into the officer. The vehicle then swerved into oncoming traffic before coming to rest in the veld on the opposite side.

“ER24 paramedics and Provincial Emergency Services responded to the area where they found a large group of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Officers and other law enforcement officials. On assessment, emergency workers discovered that a vehicle that had apparently been speeding through a crowd and collided with the officer.
