09 May 2014

About 96% of the votes in the Western Cape have been captured and IEC officials in the province say the results should be finalised this morning.

Nationally the African National Congress has won majority of votes with 62.48% with the Democratic Alliance second at 21.99% the Economic Freedom Fighters secured the 1 million mark of votes and stands at over 6.10%.

One of the ANC and IFP strong hold KwaZulu Natal could get a shake up with the DA standing at 12.16% and the IFP at 11.24 which looks like the DA could be the opposition party in the province, with 95% of the votes captured.

In the country the voter turnout for these elections was 73.15% and total valid votes are 16,666,280.
