The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the appointment of Minister Pravin Gordhan to the ministry of Cooperative Government and Traditional Affairs.

The Chamber’s Policy Consultant Pietman Roos said his appointment is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in addressing service delivery and local economic development.

Roos added that the good thing about the cabinet is that it shows commitment to the priorities that were outlined in the President’s inauguration speech, such accelerated infrastructure investment and jobs development.

“We look forward to being an active partner towards  an improved economic investment environment   but we are firm on the view that economic policy development was be led by a view of lower state interventionism” concluded Roos.
