Shooting in Mmabatho government office leaves three injured

An investigation is underway after two government officials were murdered in Mmabatho.  The two officials worked at the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism and the Department of Human Settlement.  Three people were left seriously injured during the shooting.

Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the man arrived outside the office building where he started shooting He allegedly continued and entered the building where he fired shots at the Department of Human Settlements. This resulted in injury of two people due to ricocheting shots. On the way he met a man that he struck with a gun on the head 

Meanwhile North West Premier Thandi Modise said she is shocked at the fatal shooting of two government employees last week.  Premier Modise said the shooting of the employees should not have happened if the security guards were safeguarding the building. She has called for the incident to be investigated immediately. 

Premier Modise Spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele said the incident has   left her numb with shock and wishes to convey her condolences to those that have lost their lives and injured in the incident. 

On behalf of the Premier, Kgwele added that security companies are employed at a high cost to the state to ensure that such incidents do not take place. The Premier will be demanding answers and taking drastic actions.
