Eleven South Africans were among twenty people including United States suspects who were arrested on Tuesday on charges which include cyber financial fraud.

The arrests follow an operation headed by the United States Homeland Security Investigations which shows that a West African transnational organized crime enterprise was involved in numerous complex financial fraud schemes over the internet.

Captain Paul Ramaloko said the suspects were arrested on Tuesday during a sting operation between the Hawks and the Homeland Security Investigations.

He added that all the suspects were taken to the Pretoria Magistrate Court and charged with theft, fraud and corruption.
