WCED extends project for the blind

The Western Cape Department of Education has now expanded its project to increase opportunities for blind learners.

The department introduced three new devices that would contribute significantly to improving access to and the quality of learning for blind learners. The project has now been extended to another two schools. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said these new devices include an e braille portable computer and they have invested around R1 million to support blind learners in schools.

“Following the success of the project we have expanded  the provision  office technology to two schools and invested  another R4.2  million  in this project so  each blind learner at  the two schools for the blind have access to the e-braille” added Casey
