An accident this afternoon on the N2 on route to Richards Bay has left a nursing sister dead.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said a vehicle veered off the road while running in the corner went into the barriers and then collided into the bridge after overturning.

"When we got there we had to use the Jaws of Life to free the patient. The patient had sustained life threatening injuries and tragically died on scene due to the very extensive injuries he had sustained.” Botha added.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
