The DA is concerned with SAFA’s alleged
threat to withdraw from SASCOC following the latter’s establishment of a
three-man team to investigate the financial performance of the football
association.
The DA will use the parliamentary process
to caution both organizations from engaging in tug of war that will have
devastating effects on football in the country.
DA Minister of Sports and Recreation Solly
Malatsi said I will be writing to the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on
Sports and Recreation,Mrs Beauty Dudlane, and request that she summon the
leadership of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee and
the South African Football Association to Parliament to resolve the on-going
dispute between the two organizations.
“SAFA should not discourage sport
authorities from asking serious questions about their dismal financial
performance by threatening to pull out of SASCOC Malatsi added.
