Last Thursday the DA finally received a response from the newly elected Speaker,Baleka Mbete, regarding there request to establish a new Nkandla ad hoc Committee.
The DA urged the speaker to establish the
ad hoc committee before Friday 6 June 2014 and allow it the
appropriate scope, time and resources to conclude it’s work. Chairperson of DA
Federal Executive James Selfe said it is a poor reflection on the speaker, that
on a matter as urgent as this, the speaker waited 14 days to reply.
Chairperson of DA Federal Executive James
Selfe said The Democratic Alliance is very disappointed at what seems to be
stalling tactics from the part of the new speaker at the national assembly in
establishing a ad hoc committee at the national assembly to consider the
presidents response to the public protectors report on the Nkandla security
upgrade.
“The committee was unable to finish its
investigation under the fourth parliament there was a very clear arrangement
and agreement that the work would continue under the fifth parliament Selfe
added.
