The Democratic Alliance said in a statement that it will petition President Jacob Zuma to reconsider draconian health legislation.

DA MP of Health Wilmot James said while the making of healthcare accessible to all especially poor South Africans is a principle to which we wholeheartedly subscribe, the regulatory burden imposed by this Act will paralyze services and hamper delivery of care.

Research and Communications Officer Yaseen Carelse said these sections seek to give state more control over where medical practitioners setup their practice.

“While the making of healthcare accessible to all especially poor South Africans is a principle to which we wholeheartedly subscribe. The regulatory burden imposed by this Act will paralyze services and hamper delivery of care Carelse added.
