The National Education Health and Allied Workers Union
in the Western Cape will later today be picketing outside Parliament.
This as Parliament staff are on strike accusing the
institution’s executive management of isolating them on an earlier agreement
signed this year.
Nehawu Provincial Secretary Luthando Nogcinisa said
one demand is the withdrawal of the unlawful and unfair dismissal of staff in
the offices of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairperson of the
National Council of Provinces.
"The reason that we are picketing is that we have been
trying to engage with management of Parliament, on a range of issues that
includes the fact that they withdrew from the negotiations on wages and
dismissed workers unfairly and most importantly the arrogance shown by the HR
management and the Deputy Secretary of Parliament,” Nogcinisa
