Zuma welcomes resolution to mining strike

President Jacob Zuma has welcomed the resolution of the mining strike.  Anglo American Platinum, Impala Platinum and Lonmin on Tuesday signed a wage agreement with Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union. 

Amcu’s 70,000 members embarked on a wage strike in January demanding a R12 500 increase. 

Acting Presidential Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said a long wage strike with the particular parties involved.

“We look forward to working with all stake holders to implement the measures announced in the State of Nations address last week to revitalize mining towns and restore stability in the sector Mamoepa added.
