Eleven arrested for robbing foreign shops

Through intensive investigation eleven South African Revenue Service Officials and Gauteng police officials were arrested in two syndicates operating in the Guateng, Boksburg and Randburg area.

General Solomon Makgale said the suspects targeted businesses that they knew did not use bank accounts. 

“They were approaching foreign own businesses that are known to keep large amount of cash.  This syndicate involves a number of SAPS officials eleven to be precise four of them were from SAPS, two of of them were from the Gauteng traffic police and one civilian.” Makgale added

National Police Commissioner General Riah Phiyega said investigations into crimes committed by members of the police and people impersonating police officials are rapidly gaining momentum.
