Emergency Services refused entry into Langa due to protest

Cape Town Emergency Services said they are being refused entry into Langa today as protesters have blocked both entrances into the township and it has turned violent.

It is alleged that community members are protesting over houses they alleged were promised by the City that they will be able to move into them two weeks ago.

EMS Spokesperson Robert Daniels said we have several pending emergencies and patients inside Langa who urgently require emergency medical care.

“Due to the protest action by the community we are unable to reach those who need medical care” Daniels added.

Meanwhile Warrant Officer Derek van der Merwe said police are monitoring the situation.
